SI kills wife and parents in-law

(Colombo-Lankapuvath-June 24) A Sub Inspector attached to Boralesgamuwa police Intelligence Unit shot dead his wife, Lakmali Perera and his father in-law and mother in-law on Monday night at their residence in Dehiwela.

The SI who shot himself after committing the crime was admitted to the Kalubowila hospital with hand injuries.
 
The sister of SI's wife Sandamali Perera giving evidence before Mount Lavinia Additional Magistrate Dharshika Wimalasiri said that her sister Lakmali   had called her husband the above mentioned SI Susantha to come to a private hospital in Colombo as their baby was indisposed .

But Susantha did not come to the hospital and Lakmali had inquired about this from SI Susantha when he returned from duty, after which a heated argument had followed. After that he left the home and returned with a pistol and opened fire at her and parents, she added.

Lakmali perera was a teacher of an International Pre-School in Mt. Lavinia and her father was a building contractor. Lakmali was a mother of two children aged 2 and 4.
